Support Groups
St. Lawrence Rehabilitation Center offers three support groups for your benefit and support both during your stay and after discharge. We welcome survivors of brain injury, stroke and their caregivers to our groups. Meet others in similar situations; gain valuable information; resources; and emotional support.
No registration required, no fees or obligation, just support for you and those you love.
Our Stroke and Brain Injury Support Groups meet on the first Wednesday of each month in Cafeteria at 6:30 pm until 8:30 pm. We start the meeting together for announcements and occasional speakers. This combined meeting allows all participants to have time together. We then have breakout groups for the Stroke Group, the Brain Injury Group and the Caregiver Group. This format allows more St. Lawrence Rehabilitation Center personnel to be available for private consultation.
St. Lawrence Rehabilitation Center hosts a support group for amputees and their caregivers. The group meets the first Tuesday of each month from 6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m., in the cafeteria of St. Lawrence. Physical therapists and Occupational therapists from St. Lawrence facilitate the meeting, which is for amputees at all stages of experience and their caregivers. Professionals who regularly work with amputees are also welcome to sit-in.The support group seeks to provide an opportunity for amputees to learn about recovery after limb loss and to network among peers. Everyone will be given an opportunity to contribute their ideas or make announcements that would be useful to the amputee community.
